INDIANAPOLIS - Defensive lineman Bronson Kaufusi worked out for NFL scouts and officials at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday as he prepares for the 2016 NFL Draft.
Kaufusi measured in at over 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds earlier at the Combine. He clocked a 4.87 in the premier event at the combine, the 40-yard dash. His 40 time was just one-one hundredth slower than All-American Joey Bosa from Ohio State with a 4.86. Kaufusi's mark was also tied for No. 17 among 57 particpants in the event. He tied Ole Miss defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche and was a few ticks quicker than Utah's Jason Fanaika (4.92) and Baylor's Shawn Oakman (4.96).
Kaufusi was a top performer at the combine among defensive linemen in the 3-cone drill and the 20-yard shuttle. He had the No. 5 time in the 3-cone drill with a 7.03 and tied for fourth in the 20-yard shuttle with a 4.25. The 7.03 time in the 3-cone drill topped All-American Shaq Lawson (7.16) from Clemson and Oklahoma State's Emmanuel Ogbah's 7.26. Kaufusi's 4.25 mark in the 20-yard shuttle tied Michigan State's Shilique Calhoun and bested the nation's sack leader in All-American Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib (4.37).
He posted 25 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, tied for No. 20 among 51 defensive line particpants. His 25 tied Maelik Collins, defensive tackle from Nebraska, and topped Ohio State's Bosa (24) and Alabama's A'Shawn Robinson (22).
In the jumps, Kaufusi notched a 30.0 inch vertical leap and a 111.0 inch broad jump. His 30.0 was higher than Nassib from Penn State and broad jump mark was better than Boise State's Kamalei Correa and Alabama defensive end D.J. Pettway (108.0).
Kaufusi led BYU in sacks and tackles for loss in 2015 with 11.0 sacks and 20.0 TFL. He helped the Cougars to a 9-4 record and led a defense that recorded 40 sacks, tied for No. 5 in the nation in total team sacks.
