The BYU University Communications team hosted the third annual BYU Social Media Awards – The Golden Hashtags, an event to recognize departments and affiliated organizations for their savvy online efforts.
The Athletic Department received the award Best of Show for the #BYU50 giveaway that was held prior to the 2014 football season. For #BYU50, BYU athletic marketing placed boxes of BYU merchandise in different states each day. Fans then raced to claim the boxes using photo clues shared on the BYU Cougars Twitter account.
The campaign was organized by David Almodova, director of athletic marketing, and his team, and Stuart Call, director of social media.
