Rodney Kimball

1979 Hall of Fame Inductee

Rod Kimball grew up on a farm where he learned how to work a quality that came in handy when he joined BYU in 1937 as athletic trainer for all the Cougar athletic teams. He was also the equipment manager and even helped to irrigate the practice fields.

Rod was an athlete in high school, lettering in baseball, basketball, football, and track, and winning the All-Around Athlete, Scholar, and Leader Award at Jordan High School in 1929.

He served as a full-time athletic trainer at BYU until 1975 with the exception of the World War II years.

As a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), Rod was the recipient of their 25-year service award. He has served as secretary and director of the Rocky Mountain Trainers Association, and was on the NATA board of directors for two years. In 1974 he was recognized by the Citizens Savings Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame for his achievements in athletic training.
